Wild Wind and Applefest

Early autumn 2021 came and went with a bang; Wild Wind Folk Art and Craft Festival over the second weekend of September and Applefest the first weekend in October made for a very busy month and a half.

Wild Wind, which takes place in the striking hills of Warren, Pa near the New York border, hosted over 150 artisans over a beautiful weekend. Applefest, in the heart of historic Franklin, PA, was more a celebration of community but a successful outing nevertheless!

Taking part in these festivals is really an undertaking, though the benefits are always worth it. Weeks of preparation creating, planning, and packing add to the anticipation; organizing setup, helping hands, uhauls, and accommodation are all part of the package. The hard work is rewarding; to see people interact and admire my work, to happily pay to take it home, is beyond beneficial. Ecommerce does strip out some of that magic, so a full weekend of sharing my goods in person is really a boost.

The setting of Wild Wind was very lovely; tucked into the corner of a sawdust-floored barn among the rolling hills of Warren made for an idyllic weekend.

Franklin’s Applefest was in the heart of the small town; hundreds of vendors were gathered into two lovely parks. I was fortunate to be placed right along the town’s main street and sidewalk, allowing for tons of visibility and foot traffic. The local high school’s marching band put on a wonderful show, which I had front row seats for!

I came away from both markets incredibly exhausted, but incredibly satisfied. Happy customers, new contacts for the mailing list, potential custom orders, hundreds of business cards distributed- priceless opportunities!

The holiday calendar is currently being arranged- hope to see you at market! Be sure to follow on instagram and facebook, or join the newsletter at the bottom of this page for updates!
